A parent should not panic their child into losing weight as this can have an adverse reaction; after all, weight takes time to amass and will also take time to lose if done safely. However, it is important to bear in mind that there is some danger with teen weight loss programs that rely on a strict adherence to rapid fat loss. Those regimes that advocate the starvation method should be avoided as whilst weight will be lost, it will not be achieved healthily. So the purpose is reduce the body fat and information on this subject is considerable but if the teen can achieve this, a long term healthy weight balance is more likely.
